(185) The Lord’s Supper

Matthew 26:26-30, Mark 14:22-26, Luke 22:17-20

[A]While they were eating,[1] Jesus took some bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to the disciples, saying, “Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

[B]Likewise, after supper,[1] He also took the cup and gave thanks. And when He had given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Take this and divide it among yourselves. Drink from it, all of you.” And they all drank of it.

[C]And He said to them, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is shed for you. [D]Yes, this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. [E]But, I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom. No, I will not drink of it until the kingdom of God comes.”

[F]And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
