(64) Jesus’ Mother and Brothers
Matthew 12:46-50, Mark 3:31-35, Luke 8:19-21
[A]While He was still speaking to the people, His mother and brothers suddenly came and stood outside, wanting to speak with Him. They were unable to get to Him for the pressing crowd, so they sent someone to call Him. [B]He spoke to the crowd that sat around Jesus, so they said to Jesus, “Look, your mother and brothers are standing outside, wishing to see and speak with you.”
[C]But He said, “Who is my mother? And who are my brothers?”
[D]Then He looked around at those sitting about Him, stretched out His hand toward His disciples, and said, “Look, my mother and my brothers are these -- the ones who hear the word of God, and obey it. [E]For whoever does the will of God, my Father in heaven, this is my brother and sister and mother.”
